Liberty Title Amps Up the Trust Factor With SOC 2 Audit
EAST GREENWICH, FEBRUARY 14, 2013 – Liberty Title & Escrow, a nationwide title and escrow company, recently announced they have undergone and passed the stringent Statement on Standards for Attestation Engagements (SSAE) No. 16 SOC 2 audit. Passing this audit gives Liberty Title customers an added level of assurance that their data will be handled with the utmost care in privacy and security.
The purpose of the audit is to evaluate information systems relevant to security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality, and privacy. Completing the SSAE 16 SOC 2 report means Liberty Title has:
• A defined business process and IT controls in place
• Been audited and tested
• Met stringent standards that tell current and future customers that they can conduct business in complete confidence

The predecessor to the SSAE 16 SOC2 was known as SAS 70. The biggest difference between these reports is that the SAS 70 confirmed the existence of the controls, where the SSAE 16 actually tests them.
