The company was founded in 1989 by Daniel G. Aiken, Esq. in Lincoln, Maine. Dan remains as owner and President today. He received his law degree from Suffolk University in 1972. Prior to starting Gateway Title, Dan’s law practice focused on real estate law and real estate transactions.
Vice President, Kortney A. Theriault, joined the firm in 2000. Over the years, she has worked in every area of the company and is uniquely qualified to oversee all operations. Kortney’s warm, friendly management style helps to promote the family culture that exists in the company today.
John M. Kirk, III, Esq., the company’s Title Counsel, joined the firm in 2003. John graduated from Vermont Law School in 1991, and has specialized in real estate law since 1995. John oversees legal compliance, title review and directly supervises all commercial real estate transactions.
Dan, Kortney and John are backed up by 21 expert paralegals, title examiners and closers who assist in resolving complicated title issues such that the end result is an enjoyable and smooth real estate transaction. In all, the company’s personnel have over 200 years experience in title abstracting, escrow services, title insurance and real estate law.
Under the vision of Dan and Kortney, the company has expanded to six branch offices located in Presque Isle, Lincoln, Bangor, Belfast, Waterville, and Scarborough. The company has grown by providing rapid and comprehensive commercial and residential title services throughout the State of Maine. Employees perform title examinations in all sixteen counties and routinely conduct closings throughout the State, at a time and place convenient to our customers.
Even though the company’s offices are widely spread apart, modern technology enables us to work closely with one another as though we were all under one roof, giving us the ability to print loan packages and checks at any of our six locations.
